Hungry Man Ready Meals on a Supermarket Refrigerator

Ah, the Ready Meal or TV dinner as it was once known. Over the years the meaning of this concept has shifted from convenient luxury to a symbol of our double-income-no-time lifestyle, though in upscale chillers the dishes on offer have become remarkably good.

Here in the US freezer aisle there’s a refreshingly down to earth approach, with a brand named after the target group and occasion. A great big plate of food promises our Hungry Man (TM) that it will satisfy his craving (TM). I like the fact that the food shot fills the frame but don’t quite go to the full overhead angle that usually kills appetite appeal. The camera is lowered for the more upscale variant Hungry Man Selects, which strikes me as an amusing contradiction in terms.
